Didn't get a lot done today...

But I do feel better. My head is not nearly as scattered as it was yesterday, but I still haven't found it in myself to be able to sit down and write a chapter, sooo, I am going to have to work on that this week, because, darn it, I have deadlines, even if they are self imposed.

Okay, enough complaining. I am setting up blogs for my 4-year-old, and my 6-year-old. Why? Because I am crazy, I think, and because they asked me too. I know it won't get a lot of use now, but, I am working on daily journaling with them anyway, and I know they will think it's cute. So, I am trying to find templates that they like and all that other jazz that goes with setting up a blog, but the plus side is we are having fun doing it, and they are learning a bit about computers and about how things don't always work the way they are supposed to.

The ROOF!!!

They started on the roof yesterday, and boy is that a loud project! And it goes on all week. I have no idea how I am supposed to make school work, but I am going to try. Oh, and I think I may have found a way to help Phoebe, at least with her numbers.

Penn's Colony 2008

Penn's Colony is an event that happens in the Pittsburgh Area once a year during the last two weekends of September. We had fun, the girls got to ride in a Surray (Horse & Cart) And the guy let my sister's son (almost 2-years) drive-with help, lol. The girls got these cool whistles, that sound just like birds. So they aren't too annoying. All in all, we basically had fun, and the girls want to do it again next year. Maybe I will have some of my own money to spend, because they do have some really cool stuff there.

Journals

I started journals with my girls this last week. It's helping me with communicating with Pink a little easier. She seems more than willing to just talk and talk and talk some more while I am filling in a page in her journal. She'll tell me everything, from how she felt about something, to why she did something she wasn't supposed to do. It's interesting, but it's like I am not even here while I write the entry for her. (She's only six, so she can't really write everything on her own yet, and I kind of like this look into her life right now) And Bugs, she just likes to tell me things, and she thinks it's cool that I am writing it down, but she' bluntly honest about things anyway. So, that's one more thing I've added to my life of things to do in a day, but it's well worth it to finally learn how to communicate with one of my kids.

Who am I?

Who am I? (Yes it's been one of those days.)

I am a thirty-year-old (As of 2008) stay-at-home-mother of two, wife of ten years, pet owner of three cats, and one dog, home owner, and homeschooler. I go out with my mother twice a month, I go to my parents house once a week for “family” dinner.

I write high fantasy, romance, and comedy screen plays. I go out with a writing buddy once a week (provided I have the time, or the husband doesn’t need the car, and I meet with a write group once a month.

I love to write and I will be published one day (not some day). When I write, I write a lot, upwards of 10,000 words per day, but I usually average about 5,000 words (though I am trying to cut back).

I knit and I crochet. It’s mostly crap, but I am getting better at it. I can also sew and do funky crafts with my girls.

The husband and I get along most of the time, though I do have my mood swings-and he has his. I go through phases of not liking him, but like every other bad thing in life, it passes. My current phase is not liking him. (Make it difficult to write a love story.)

My girls fight like the siblings they are, but I usually find then curled up together at the end of the day, sleeping in some odd place. They love to sleep anywhere except their beds. They are the best of friend and the worst of enemies (Unless there are cookies in the top cupboard).

My oldest started first grade this year. We are homeschooling, because I feel she would be one of the ones left behind. I don’t think she has a learning disability or anything, but, I can easily see her getting lost easily in a thirty child class setting. So, I am homeschooling her, which means I get to do the same with my youngest next year when she starts kindergarten.

So, who am I? I am all those things I talked about, and so much more. I am me, and being me is great, when it doesn’t suck. But isn’t that life and the beauty of living?

Okay, I know it's been a long time since I have posted. I've just been uber busy with life, writing and projects. I am well, the girls are well and so is the husband and the pets. I write a better post tomorrow. I have writing to go do!

Well, I joined a writing group today - a face to face one, which I think is going to prove benificial to me and my writing. I stay locked up in my house way to much and the husband is right (don't tell him I said that) I do need to get out more. It's exactly the kind of group I have been looking for, while they focus on Sci-Fi, I think having fresh eyes that aren't fantasy obsessed might be a good thing. I am willing to bet all of them have read LOTR at some point in their lives, so if I can captivate a Sci-Fi group, my little novel just might stand a chance.

Okay, so either I am an idiot, he is or we both are, lol, but we totally got things screwed up. I waited for him until 6:20 and he waited for me until 6:15 in two different Panera Bread's within like 5 miles of each other. The Hubby said I can go to the writer's meeting Bill is attending on Thursday, so hopefully we will get together then.

Ha, I am so lucky. I got a night off tonight, I get one off tomorrow night, and one off on Thursday and possible on Friday as well. For a sahm, that's not to bad, four nights off in one week, I'm not sure I want to know what the husband did to be so nice, lol, and he gave 40$ too, I really don't want to know ;) he's a good boy, I don't have to worry about him, but I do wonder what he may have broken that I don't know about.

I have a meeting with another writer tonight. Y'all are probably thinking that's great, right, well, no, I'm a chicken, well, neurotic is a better name, I think. So I am nervous as hell, and driving even the dog nuts.
I didn't get the pictures of the socks taken, I'll try later today, right now I have a load of laundry to do, kids to feed and bunch of other things to do before I have to go. Oh, I got a new word count done for SF (Shadowed Friends)

Two Pair completed

I have two pairs of socks - one for Pink in of course pink and one for bugs in green - completed. I must admit that I cheated a little and found a Bond sock pattern, but hey, the kids wanted socks and I wasn't about spend hours and hours of time making socks they are going to grow out of in a week. I post the pictures of them tomorrow.

I think my creative ADD is catching up to me. I need to start getting some of these projects done so I can start more, lol. Of course the girls keep adding to the list of things they want me to make for them - and I still haven't decided what I am doing with all that yarn my mother gave me! I need to decided on a project and just start it. I want something just for me self in those bright, beautiful alpaca colors.

Writing Journal update HERE. So far so good with keeping track of everything - though doing that adds about 15 minutes to my day, so I have gut some time out somewhere else. I'll figure it out.

New Look

I have decided that I would find as many free Hobbit web themes as I could and updated my personal website, my blog and my writing journal to reflect that. I have started a writing journal on another site. I hope it will help keep me on track and motivated, since it's a site for writers. You can see it HERE. It has two tools that I think will really help me. A WIP (Work in Progress) manager and a word count meter - and I can link the two. My mother decided she need some of her black yarn back - but to make up for it she gave not 1, not 2, but 30, yes count them, 30 skeins of alpacka superfine yarn (5 of 6 different colors). I think I can give back 2 little balls of black yarn for that!

I started a scarf with some yarn my mother bought for me – it was Wool-ease from Pat Catain’s. I have a discount card there and she lets me get stuff when we go there, I save her a TON of money. Anyway, I really need to be working on the Christmas Stockings. I only have like 2 weeks to get that finished so I can stay on track.
Anyway, back to my scarf. It’s going to be huge. I am doing it on my ISM Bond knitting machine. I am trying some Illusion knitting with a few color blocks. When I am done with side one, I will have to knit a whole ‘nother side, but that’s okay, it’s going to be really cool and really warm!

Organizing update

Well, it's not going as well as I hoped - but I am getting writing done and a lot of knitting done. The ravelry site is really helping to organize and get my yarns and projects in order, so that's a help.

Ravelry is really cool. You need an invite right now to join - it's smiple, just put in your email address and wait for the invite to show up, then enjoy

Believe me it is worht the wait and you'll be suprized at all the great tips and things you will beable to find. - They even have a tool bar icon you can use to keep track of all those patterns you find on the net, and then lose the link - so you will never lose another pattern again!

My mother loves me. She gave me 4 – count them – 4 Skeins of black Alpaca Yarn – at like 8.50 per skein to make whatever I want. I am going to make myself some socks. They will be expensive socks, but they will be worth it, my feet are always cold.

Crazy Writing Goals

I joined NaNoWriYe (National Novel Writer’s Year) You pick a huge goal of novel writing words for the year of 2008 and then you go all out to reach the goal for the whole year. I picked 400,000. I think I should up the word count since I am close to that already. Maybe something that might make me work for it 800,000. It’s a doable goal for as much as I write and it will keep me on task with my writing – and I can count Scrip Frenzy in April and NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writer’s Month) in November. So that’s like Three Birds with one stone.

Night out

I just could not take it anymore, I had to get out of the house and I dragged the kids and the husband with me. I decided we were going to the mall, the kids would play in the play area and then we would get some mall food and come home and veg out, well, the husband thought it would be great to get some video games while we were there, so I agreed. I got two games. LOTR Third age, and Two Worlds – go me (I am such a geek). Then he got Pirates of the Caribbean for Pink and Eragon for Bugs. We had a lot of fun, I got hit on (Which was kind of creepy) and then we came home relaxed and they all went to bed. Now it’s my turn. G’night.

well, I started the broomstick lace poncho for Pink. Let’s hope I can get it done for spring – though I might cheat and do a few rows in lace, kit a bunch on the bond ISM and then do a few more rows in BSL to finish it out. We’ll see, though I could make a really interesting trim with BSL and do the body on the Bond. I’ll have to think about it.

The kids have decided the dog need me – apparently at some point in the last two years I gave birth to a puppy because they said I am his mother - to make him a blanket. Luckily my grandmother-in-law just gave me her stash of knitting a crochet tools with a boat-load of cheap yarn. So I have plenty of yarn to make him is easy crochet blanket – which I will post pictures of later.

Sunday Night Madness

Last night was a lovely family dinner at my mother's house. Mom was in a good mood, Dad was in a good mood yet somehow there was still tension. Why do you ask? Well, it's simple, my BIL is a drug addict. I say is and not was because he's less than a month out of Rehab and I don't think it worked very well. He's still got the same drug attitude and still treats my sister like crap. So dinner was strained, they had to eat in a hurry so BIL could get to his NA meeting, and I wanted to ask him what the point was. It's not that I don't believe be can stay clean and become a productive member of society - my husband and my brother are living proof that it can happen, but with the BIL, he's not ready yet and until he is, Sunday dinner is going to crap.

Hairpin Lace and Broomstick Lace!!

It pays to go snooping around my mother's house. You never know what treasures you might find. I found an old Hairpin Crochet loom and a pair of size 35 knitting needles - now I don't have to buy anything to do them! Hehe, I feel so clever today. Anyway, this is the stuff I made to learn how to do it - well, mostly anyway, I still have to figure out how to attach hairpin Lace strips, but that will come when I have time. X-mas 2008 projects have already started, which means Mom and I will be in planning stages next Tuesday.

Okay, I like The King just as much as anyone else does, but last night while I was at my mother's house, we watched two of the most bizarre movies ever created. The first was called Live Little, Love Little and the other was Walk Away, Joe. Now, both movies seemed to have no plot. I guess in the 1960's they'd put anything on film. Anyway, I know it's not much of a post, but I am kind of busy today.

Well, we got a something from the vet in the mail today, and it was made to look like a birthday card for the dog. So both my daughters, Pink and Bugs, just had to get him birthday presents and cards, then, since it was a 60 degrees outside, the had to throw him a party out there. It wasn't much, they the girls and the dog had fun.

It’s the name of my daughter, Pink’s, cat. He is the most loving, tolerant animal I know. The hubby attributes it to brain damage caused by Pink hitting his head on door jambs too much as she carried them around when they were both little. He could be right, or he could be wrong. All I know is the cat gets majorly ticked off when Pink spends the night at Nana’s house and he gets angry (Claws out kind of angry) when Pink gets in trouble. It’s an interesting relationship I think only a child and an animal can form, the kind of relationship formed before the magic is gone.

Camera and Battery Pouch

This is what I made today. It’s a pouch for my camera with a slot for extra batteries. Now I just put it in my purse and not have to carry the camera bag with me. And if I am lucky, the hubby will keep his paws off my camera now that he has his own.

I used a size I crochet hook, Caron Simply Soft in Lemonade and Limelight – one strand of each, and then I just kind of worked my rows and rounds until it fit the camera the way I wanted it to. Then I did the same thing for two AA batteries. I think it came out pretty cute. I work some more on my scarf tomorrow. The hat, Scarf and glove set I am making for me will probably be something I won’t ware until next fall, but it will be one less thing I have to make this summer, so go me!

Vertical Stripe Double Knit Scarf – Knitting Loom

I may or may not post the pattern for this. But this is my current yarn project. I think it’s going well after two false starts. I am knitting it on my Yellow Long Loom Knifty Knitter with Caron’s Simply soft yarn in Violet and Off White. I plan on making a hat and once my mother gets those Wonderlooms, I will make two sets of matching gloves. Anyway, I’ll keep ya updated on my progress.

XBox 360

Well, he did it, The Hubby finally got the new Xbox 360 up and running. We only have two games, but at least now I can play video games again. And he got me a pink controller to go with it, hehe. Me liking the pink controller is kind of funny thing because I used to hate pink, but after have two girls – one who loves pink, I find myself getting more and more pink items. Who knows why, but it’s true.

Anyway, now that I’ve been off on a tangent, it’s installed and working, so that’s one thing of the ever growing to do’s list. Now if I could just get him to throw out the boxes to all the stuff we got for Christmas, we’d be doing good.

Taruma Kitty

This is my cat Icarus. He is the funniest cat and the biggest sissy. He likes the sit on the back of my computer chair while I am working. The only problem with that is he’s not the most graceful of cats, nor does he have the best balance, so he often falls off and slide between my back and the back of the chair. This whole event usually causes him trauma, with means I have to contort myself around to save him without getting cat claws in my flesh. Then he’ll cry for five to ten minutes with this constant pathetic meow until I’ve talked and petted him enough for him to feel better. Then he expects me to put him back on the back of my chair so in thirty minutes we can start the whole process again. So my husband had deemed him Trauma Kitty.

Well, the holidays are over, the Christmas tree is packed, and the children are starting to settle down. All signs that the winter dull-drums are coming, but I hope to have a cure for that. It’s called The Organize The House Project. It starts today in full force. Wish me luck.

There have been many changes though out the all of 2007, so it’s time to make all the good things that need to start to happen in my life, start to happen. I have a few New Year’s resolutions, and this year, I am going to stick to them.
